Justice for Ellie Butler

I searched and cannot find a recent thread for this case.

Ellie Butlers " mother" had her appeal refused today . The whole case is utterly horrific reading and the judge responsible for sending Ellie back to her parents which resulted in her death finally may have to answer questions from the corner re opening an investigation.

Her amazing Grandparents did an amazing job looking after her and I can only hope they find some peace as does her sibling somehow in the future.

My heart goes out to her poor grandparents. Good people who fought for that child's welfare and were ignored. I read an interview with them and it was one of the saddest things I've ever read

I agree it is unimaginable what Neal Gray must be going through to not only have his daughter making an appeal but loosing his wife at the start of the trial is beyond words.

I have followed this case for a few years and it still gets to me. I believe Ben is still to raise an appeal which just beggars belief.

He's an absolute scumbag. I'm not sure I believe in the concept of evil, but he comes close. Vile individual. The mother is no better. She stood by and let him torture those girls.

Whatever did Justice Lady Hogg think she was doing?

I hope she loses sleep over the death of Ellie, it falls back to her decision. Justice my fuckin’ arse.

Both parents are utterly despicable people.

Completely agree both parents are responsible and her sentance is shockingly short and it appears that Justige Hogg was taken in by Ben Butler .

The short comings from the price S4C group in managing the return and the unusual notes on file around Ben being exonerated clearly hindered any query to this.

I don’t understand why that ridiculous woman who has been awarded a ‘Dame if the British Empire’ still holds her title ??
She is 100% responsible for allowing little Ellie to be placed in the murderous environment that the little thing was ... A little girl who has previously been abused by her monster of a father and deranged mother gets handed back to be MURDERED and thers no consequences for the irrational irresponsible stupid ill informed obnoxious woman that handed her over to a death sentence...
Someone needs to start a petition an get justice for Ellie and her Grandad by campaigning to strip the title of ‘Dame of the British Empire’ off a self indulgent, unworthy disgusting woman.
I don’t pay my extortionate tax to put such a foul human being in power of things they know nothing about due to their ‘privileged’ lives ...

I can’t believe this hasn’t been brought before a Court , that Hogg woman (that’s all she is , a woman , not untouchable,not a God ...a woman)
She had a DUTY OF CARE WHICH SHE FAILED MISERABLY !
Regardless of her being ‘retired’ she has to answer to her Country who awarded her DBE...
She should have the decency to remove herself from the Order of the British Empire...
That award is the epitome of an award by Queen Elizabeth representing SERVICES TO THE BRITISH EMPIRE ....

This case was heartbreaking.

For anyone not familiar: Ellie Butler was a little girl who was physically abused in the care of her biological parents, requiring hospitalisation even as a baby.

Her maternal grandparents gained custody and by all reports Ellie thrived in their care.

Unfortunately, “Dad” was a superficially attractive and articulate chap who conned social workers and pivotally, Justice Hogg into believing he was a doting, wronged father. He was on morning TV.

Ellie begged her grandparents to keep her (as they dearly wished to). She was terrified of her parents and begged to speak to the judge. Judge refused.

Grandparents bankrupted themselves trying legally to keep custody, but failed.

Ellie was retuned to her biological parents and ‘Dad’ killed her.

Usually these tragic cases seem to involve a child who was raised in an abusive home and never removed.

But in this one, Ellie was in a safe, loving home (with her grandparents) but removed to an abusive one.

An awful failure by the legal system.

Heartbreaking, this poor girl was let down by her disgusting and evil parents, and the judge that sent her to her death.

That poor child, it would be traumatic enough to be ripped from her happy home and placed with people who were effectively strangers in any situation. Then to be subject to horrific abuse. The poor grandparents.
