Really concerned not sure what to do

Moved house last week and had to put my furniture in storage. Paid half of the bill for furniture being taken into storage, kept there for 8 days and then brought back to new accommodation.

I have been sent the bill for the remainder of the money but have been charged twice for the storage of my items. However when I phoned this was denied and got quite heated on their part. All my figures are correct and checked against invoices already sent.

I am worried and don't know what to do. I need my furniture etc and also don't want anything damaged but not sure of my rights and don't want a scene when they ask for cash tomorrow.

I have put an email together that proves my point but think better to send it after my furniture has arrived and been put together.

I doubt if police can help me and they don't belong to any association...

If you have all the facts, figures and invoices to prove your case I say go tomorrow to pick up furniture with amount you'correctly' owe. If they ask for more show them all the documentation and give them a chance to make right on what we will assume is a 'mistake'. If they refuse to budge after you have given them the chance then I would suggest informing them you will call police as they are withholding goods that don't belong to them and are in breach of original agreement and possibly on to solicitor after that. Hopefully they do the right thing. Even if police deem it a civil matter, the presence or threat of presence of police might spur them to do the right thing. Also as soon as you realism the situation is not going as it should inform them you are recording this as more proof and get your phone out.

Is this a large, well known storage and removal company beginning with a B? I'm having similar issues with additional charges and denials.

Not the same firm but sorry to hear you are having the same problem. What has happened?
