Just got my first

Omg are you having triplets comment, I'm surprised how much it's upset me!
Aibu if I told her to fuckoff! And that's actually quite rude,

I've had a sad history of late miscarriage previous to this rainbow, which she is fully aware off, so prob am a bit bigger, but also I'm over 7 months now,

Blush xx

I got this from about 5 months, never triplets but twins comments. I was surprised by how many strangers think it’s okay to comment on (or try to touch) someone’s bump. Then again my DS was 10lb+ so he could have been two babies Grin

I was very British in my response, gave them a sweet tinkle laugh and then muttered profanities under me breath walking away.

SundaySalon · 22/02/2018 17:38

my**

That’s my accent coming out Blush

PutTheBunnyBackInTheBox · 22/02/2018 17:39

Ignore, ignore, ignore and yy, tell her to fuck off!

Bring pg is the perfect time to let go and enjoy being big Grin I know I did!

Congrats btw Cake (rather than flowers Smile)

BeyondThePage · 22/02/2018 17:41

"nahhhh, just a baby elephant!" Grin

makes them laugh - and occasionally apologise

Scrumptiousbears · 22/02/2018 17:43

Ignore then. Surely your energy is better used elsewhere.

Monkeyandbananas · 22/02/2018 17:45

I know how you feel!! 38 weeks here and the eating for two (or three or four) comments are endless.
The hilarious thing is I have actually lost 3 and half stone since falling pregnant due to severe morning sickness that had me in and out of hospital during the 1st and 2nd trimester.
I wonder if people sometimes just run out of things to say and speak without thinking. I try my best to laugh at their witty joke and put it to the back of my mind and then go back to my orange (Terry's chocolate)

Ellendegeneres · 22/02/2018 17:45

I had that a lot first time round. I started saying what? I’m not pregnant... how embarrassing for you

WomanInTheMirrorStaresAtMe · 22/02/2018 17:46

"no, have you?"

DenPerry · 22/02/2018 17:54

Can someone explain why this is offensive? Not goading just wondering Smile I've had it said to me second time round and it was because my bump was MASSIVE!

bigupapple · 22/02/2018 17:56

I just said , oh right, no just the 1,

How rude of her, if I wasn't in such a rush to get home and eat lots and lots of cakes and crisps and ice cream for the rest of the night I might of thought of something better to say,

Excuse me while I pig out nom nom xx

bigupapple · 22/02/2018 17:57

I'm not massive tho, I only saw the midwife yday and she weighed me and measured baby, all good she said x

CupOfJoe · 22/02/2018 18:02

I can't see why you'd be offended by this? It's not insinuating you're fat, seems like a well meaning jokey comment to me.

DenPerry · 22/02/2018 18:15

Okay you're not massive, but why so offended? You're pregnant, you're allowed to have a belly! Grin

WorraLiberty · 22/02/2018 18:18

I've never understood why people are offended by people saying their pregnant bump is huge/massive etc.

I can only imagine the pregnant person mistakes it for being called fat, perhaps?

PotatoesOfTheCarribean · 22/02/2018 18:22

It's probably because women don't like people commenting on their size. Someone basically saying that you're massive does get get to you after a while.

Also, it's just so annoying to hear it 20 times a day.

bigupapple · 22/02/2018 18:23

I'm surprised about bothered I am, just took me by surprise, I'm not going to lose sleep over it, but already I'm wondering what to have for dinner and if I could have somthing lighter 😶 x

OP posts:
bigupapple · 22/02/2018 18:24

Yeh basically I think she's just called me a fattie, but said it with a smile and thinks that's it funny, x

UrgentScurryfunge · 22/02/2018 18:27

I carried large with DC1 in particular. It wasn't the initial twins/ when are you due type comments that grated so much as stranger's dogged instistence that the number of babies/ due date I gave was wrong Confused

ShowOfHands · 22/02/2018 18:27

I never minded it. People are just marvelling at the marvellous. It's usually kindly meant ime.

MumW · 22/02/2018 19:22

How about "wrong, guess again"
or "quads actually", equally tinkling laugh.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 22/02/2018 19:28

I had that a lot from about 6 months pregnant, I was very big and loads of people said I must be overdue as well. Mildly annoying sometimes but didn't really bother me too much.
I had very bad SPD which kind of threw my back out and made me waddle from early on though. So I looked even bigger than I really was.

Congratulations I hope all goes well.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/02/2018 19:31

Oh I got that from 3 months. I was huge and DD was only tiny 6.lb 10 Oz. People mean it in a lighthearted way.

HazelBite · 22/02/2018 19:32

I used to get this when I was expecting twins it used to render them speecless when I responded " Yes it is twins".
Mind you on being examined by a Dr at 36 weeks he said "well I've seen women having quads smaller than you"

deptfordgirl · 22/02/2018 19:33

I'm 8 months pregnant and in the same day I have had someone comment on how big I am and how small I am. I think people just like to say something!

JugglingMummyof2 · 22/02/2018 19:50

I had the opposite at the doctors (waiting for antenatal clinic) when a lady asked me if I was sure the baby was growing ok as my bump was small. I am usually fairly feisty but it really upset me and I mentioned it to the doctor.
He said 'Shetland ponies have shetland ponies and cart horses produce cart horses'
You have the right size baby for your body and unless you are measuring overly small or big for dates there is no issue.
Sending you Flowers Cake and Brew
