Aibu, the iPad is mine?

I was recently at a 3 day conference. A company was there peddling their wares.

They offered a thing of sign up to our website and you’ll be entered into a free draw for an iPad. No details were given of when and where the draw was going to take place. They had my email, company name and personal telephone number.

One the first 2 days, the draw was done at the end of the day. On the Friday, it was done at 3 pm during afternoon tea as obviously the company reps wanted to fuck off for the weekend, however, there was still an hour and a half left of the seminars.

At some time during the half hour long afternoon tea, someone told me that they were calling my name as I had been drawn for the iPad.

Now the venue was really big, I was close to but not in the same room as the draw, so didn’t hear my name.

Anyway, when I heard, I went to the company and said, here I am. Please can I have the iPad type thing.

Their response was “ sorry, you weren’t here, we gave it to someone else”.

I have since emailed saying how unfair I thought it was.

They offered me a $50 iTunes voucher.( $ as I am in Oz)

I replied an iTunes voucher is not much use without an iPad and iTunes stuffs up everything android/ windows related.

Their counter offer is $100 pizza party for my work place.

I want to tell them to fuck off as we are a healthy eating establishment.

So, AIBU to think I should have an iPad.

If IABR can I have your help composing a witty response?

What were the T&Cs?

CadleCrap · 22/02/2018 08:11

There weren’t any t&cs.

They have already admitted there was confusion about the draw.

It’s simple enough for them to sort this out. It’s not that hard to go to a shop and buy another iPad. And if they can afford to give two away, they can afford to give three away.

CadleCrap · 22/02/2018 09:13

@Twooter That’s what I think.

I would rather have not had my name drawn in the first place, but to be told oh, you won but didn’t is a bit sickening.

A basic model costs about $400. They have already admitted they are in the wrong. I don’t even like iPads, but the principal is really pissing me off. It is effectively fixing the outcome.
