AIBU to apply for two roles?

An amazing job has come up with my local council. In fact, two amazing jobs have come up with my local council. They are both the same department, very similar role just that one is a higher grade.

There are very little differences in the Job description.

A panel may be made for both posts depending on application numbers.

So.....I want the job. I dont mind which one - obviously the higher grade will be more difficult and there will be management remit, and it pays more. Id be very happy with the lesser grade, its still a good step up from where I am at right now (10k difference!!)

AIBU to apply for both? If it was a company I wouldnt hesitate as much - but as its council and they are pernickety (sp?) I wonder would applying for both only confuse matters?

On the other hand - it could be that the application for both posts are actually looked at and decided upon by different people, so they may not even realise I have applied for both.

What will I do?

I'd apply for both.

Definitely apply for both. I applied for 2 in the company i work for now, accepted the first role 2 hours before I was due to interview for the second. If anything it shows how keen you are on working for their team.
