Does anybody else cringe when they read this?

OP posts:
Thehop · 19/02/2018 16:16

I don’t know what it means?!

gamerchick · 19/02/2018 16:17

Nope, I cringe more when a bloody D is put before anything tbh. It’s a suck it up thing.

The80sweregreat · 19/02/2018 16:17

i cringe when people actually do it!

MissionItsPossible · 19/02/2018 16:20

According to this site, "Did you mean to be so rude"? is the ultimate comeback that will render your opponent absolutely speechless, especially coupled with a "Paddington Hard Stare" Confused When in reality if someone asked that of a rude person, they'd simply reply "Yes," and carry on.

ambereeree · 19/02/2018 16:22

Mission- yes! Also are you on glue? I think i would laugh if someone actually said that. Surely nobody ever has.

OP posts:
ambereeree · 19/02/2018 16:24

The 80s- did you ask if they were ok? How much tilting are we talking? All the way to the shoulder?

OP posts:
Somerford · 19/02/2018 16:25

Make it a tinkly laugh and they'll have no retort. Check mate. Unless they release that no is a complete sentence of course.

The80sweregreat · 19/02/2018 16:26

i worry about the necks when it happens.

Mrsdraper1 · 19/02/2018 16:26

I cringed at a colleague who did this at my last job.
Used to really get on my bloody nerves

TheVanguardSix · 19/02/2018 16:26

I was about to advise you to push for an MRI (friend's DD's main symptom of her brain tumour being a head tilt).

But I guess this isn't that kind of head tilt, which is a good thing.

Mrsdraper1 · 19/02/2018 16:26

I mean she did it in real life- actually tilted her head when she felt sorry for you or was asking you to do something

MissionItsPossible · 19/02/2018 16:27

@ambereeree

The Glue and Paddington references really make me laugh because they are so outdated!

"Are you on glue"?
"Erm, no, because this isn't the 1970's."

Surely more appropriate to ask "Are you on Spice"?

DonkeyOil · 19/02/2018 16:38

I think it's amusing, because it does conjure up very successfully that kind of superior, faux-sympathetic look employed by some. I find myself actually doing it whenever I read the phrase on MN, likewise pearl-clutching!

ambereeree · 19/02/2018 16:40

Whats a paddington hard stare?

OP posts:
MissionItsPossible · 19/02/2018 16:45

@ambereeree

I've only ever heard it on here! I assumed it's a unblinking "intimidating" glare!

SweetMoon · 19/02/2018 16:56

Head Tilt, always reminds me of this!

Worth a watch just to get 40 seconds of Richard! Yummy.

ambereeree · 19/02/2018 17:11

@sweetmoon Good one!

OP posts:
ambereeree · 19/02/2018 17:12

@missionitspossible intimidating like paddington bear?!?!

maras2 · 19/02/2018 17:24

missionitis
The 'glue' quote came about when OP's post was about a CF who back in the 80's was a glue sniffer.
She was being outrageously Bridezilla so OP wanted to know
YOU ON GLUE BITCH?
Referring to her previous drug of choice.
I spend to much time on Mumsnet since I retired Blush

Cherrycokewinning · 19/02/2018 17:25

I love it. I think it’s hikaroous

Cherrycokewinning · 19/02/2018 17:25

Hilarious even

athingthateveryoneneeds · 19/02/2018 17:30

I always think of the pearl necklaces that must be falling to bits after all that clutching. Think of the jewelry, people!

MissionItsPossible · 19/02/2018 17:45

@maras2 Ahh thanks. Is the thread still available do you know?

@ambereeree I think so! Because we all know how hard Paddington is Hmm

PanPanPanPing · 19/02/2018 17:56

IIRC, that isn't entirely correct. I believe someone who posted on that thread used the "is she on glue" comment - which then became the quote of the time. Nothing to do with the Bridezilla's alleged previous drug habit - or not.
