To ask what it means being last for interview

Job interview (second round) coming up. Recruiter told me that I was the first person they asked to see. And when sorting out the first round of interviews, they specifically asked to see me first.

Second round of interviews now. Recruiter has told me that they specifically want to interview me last this time.

Does this mean anything? Good sign, bad sign?

My surname begins with A so it's unlikely to be alphabetical.

Thanks...

Maybe you’re the candidate to beat. Before you led the pack. Now they want to see the others and then confirm you are still the best.

ilovesooty · 19/02/2018 13:35

If you were first last time perhaps they're varying it a bit.

PeerieBreeks · 19/02/2018 13:38

Last is good. I've been offered the job there and then when I was last. They couldn't do that if I was first.

Joey7t8 · 19/02/2018 13:38

They went in alphabetical order, then swapped it round the second time.

bluepears · 19/02/2018 13:41

could mean they liked you could mean youre their least favourite

strawberrysparkle · 19/02/2018 13:43

To be honest I've known it be because you're the least favourite or because you're the best. Depends on who's interviewing.

FlouncyDoves · 19/02/2018 13:43

I wouldn’t worry or get excited about it. Just try and nail it.

SussexMedley · 19/02/2018 13:48

Thank you all. I've never interviewed someone for a job so when interviewers do these strange things I never know what they mean. I still don't, of course, but I suppose it doesn't matter...even if I did know, I'd still have no option but to give it my best shot.

So odd though. When I was told I was first for interview in the initial round I assumed it was alphabetical but now I don't know.

We put the person we either like the most/have the most we need to discuss last so that if it runs late we aren't panicking

mommybunny · 19/02/2018 14:12

Can you not ask the recruiter? If anyone would know they would.

SussexMedley · 19/02/2018 17:01

I did ask the recruiter....she claims not to know. Thanks all...

I have got some jobs being last interviewed and some when earlier. I read nothing into this and wish you good luck.

SussexMedley · 19/02/2018 19:50

Thanks very much. I am sure there is SOME reason for it, because the recruiter told me they specifically requested interviewing us in this order. I just don't know what it is.
