wedding present dilemma

I have a friend getting married in a couple of months whose wedding i can't attend. however, she is coming to stay with me soon so i would like to give her an early wedding gift. BUT i am in need of suggestions about what to get!
My friend is in an unusual situation in that she won't be living with her husband immediately, they will be living separately for a couple of months, then living abroad over the summer in various places. I would like to get them something nice for their home (e.g. some nice glasses, or photo frames etc) however they won't actually have a permanent home for quite some time.
can anyone suggest alternative wedding gifts pls? They are a young couple who like the outdoors. thanks!

Picnic basket set, maybe add a nice bottle of wine or champagne? Did this for a couple who were the outdoorsy type and it went down very well. There's a massive range around depending on your budget. We found one that had everything you'd need (including wine cooler, tupperwares and blanket) in a neat rucksack with plenty of space to spare.

Monogrammed his/hers suitcases since they’ll likely be doing a lot of travel?! Or matching fancy wash bags stuffed with his/hers toiletries in carry on sizes?

I’d actually avoid anything for the home as it’s just another thing to store/pack and likely won’t be appreciated until they move in together properly. So perhaps save the photo frames etc. for a house warming gift.

If they’re going on honeymoon or staying a hotel after the wedding you could also arrange for a bottle of champagne to be provided/pay for then to have dinner one night.

Or just give them cash? If you want to make it more personal then perhaps in the local currency for one of the locations on their trip and make it enough for them to have dinner on you.

Personalised his and hers passport covers? Something they are unlikely to get and they will see them every time they travel Smile

Voucher to buy them a tree, if they have a garden? We got SIL a small apple tree which wouldn't grow into a monster.

Can you give the gift then keep it at yours until they're settled?
