Am I being a dick?

I've been really irritable all week, have my period but that's no excuse!

I just got in from taking our DS to his club, DH had the house to himself for around 2 hours. He did some tidying up etc but the kitchen was as messy as he left it last night, when I refused to tidy it out of principle. Dishwasher was empty yet dirty pots were stacked up in the sink, more dirty pots on top of clean stuff that was on the drainer.

DS was hungry so DH said he'd sort something out and tidy the kitchen so I could make my own lunch. He gave me the green light to go in and prep my lunch, and I asked him if the dishwasher had clean or dirty dishes in, as it looked half full/empty and there was still dirty pots in the sink. I was simply going to put everything from the sink in the dishwasher if I could, so that I could get to the sink and wash salad stuff. So we argued because he said the dishwasher had dirty and clean stuff in it. I huffed and said how is that even possible, he said get out (of the kitchen) and stormed out saying ffs as I did.

Then a few minutes later, DS was playing with felt tips and using an old envelope. I suggested he use the back pages of a puzzle book he has, each page is blank on the back with a cool puzzle on the front. DH grabbed the book and started to show DS how to rip a page out, but it was a page half way through the book. I said to start from the beginning and show him the reverse side of the first page, so he can work through the book from there. DH said nothing, didn't acknowledge I was even speaking, and carried on tearing the middle page out. I raised my voice and asked him 'why am I even bothering to speak?' We argued, he ended up muttering so DS couldn't hear but I could, and he said fuck off. AIBU? Am I a dick or is he? Sorry that was so long!

Honestly? In my opinion...

On the kitchen issue your DH was being a dick. If he made the mess (or if for example the agreement was that you cooked and he cleared up) he should have cleaned it up so that the kitchen was useable again when someone else next needed to use it.

On the puzzle book issue you were being a dick. It didn't matter which page was ripped out and your way was no more right/wrong than your DH's way. There was no need to pull him up on it.

Thanks Death. What upset me about the puzzle book was that he didn't acknowledge I was even speaking. Didn't look at me or say anything. It was like I was literally wasting my breath. I'm not precious about the, just annoyed about being blanked.
