Staying in a 4 star hotel. Well over £100 per night. Two nights. We don't have loads of money so this is a real treat. I've not been in a hotel for 4/5 years. I've got kids with me.

Anyway. WIBU to complain? It's dusty. There was a long black coarse hair on the whistle bed sheets on arrival. And there are several dark hairs on the top of the bathroom door. Like it's been wiped with a dirty rag that hadn't been rinsed therefor deposited its contents on the door.

Is this to be expected? Kids got cookies on arrival which were so hard I almost broke my tooth...

If you think it's unacceptable it probably is - I don't think £100 is that pricey but 4 star suggest it should be spick and span. I would mention it to the manager and see what they have to say

Mention it to reception. You have paid for a standard and if you don't feel you have it then ask about it.

Ah, cookies. Are you in a DoubleTree? I’ve stayed in a couple and had to complain on one occasion. They moved us to a different room and plied us with cookies after apologising that things weren’t up to their usual standard. Can’t remember if we had a discount on the room..

I’d definitely complain, it should be clean, you’re paying for it!

That's grim. Check if there's lipstick on the glass in the bathroom

Not a doubletree no x

Over £100 a night doesn't necesarily mean anythng, a Premier Inn or Travelodge would probably cost more than that on a weekend.

Just pick the single hair off the bed and get in it. And who the hell checks the top of bathroom doors???

Anasnake · 17/02/2018 21:58

Top of the bathroom doors Hmm. Are you on '4 in a bed' ??

BarbaraofSevillle · 17/02/2018 22:21

4 star doesn't mean that much either. Stars are related to facilities not naiceness. Obviously cleanliness is a basic expectation but I wouldn't expect hairs or dust whether there were zero, 2 or 5 stars really.

virtualreality · 17/02/2018 22:26

I'm usually too tipsy to care after a great night out away from everyone.

And I don't own a microscope either to check out these hairy things either on top of a door. Are you ok?

Relax.

What is a whistle bed?
