To cry with frustration!

It's 4.30am my baby is asleep and has been for over an hour and yet I am wide awake and can't switch off! Left the room as every movement DH makes is driving me crazy too. Ive had about three hours sleep total tonight so far and now I'm stressing about how little sleep I've had, how my baby is likely to wake up any moment again and how I'm going to function today. Which I realise is not helping me sleep. AngrySad Ahhhh!

If it is any consolation I’m up with a two year old. Eventually came downstairs to watch baby tv. Coffee is your friend.

Distract your mind for a bit. Sleep is like being funny - the harder you try the less its gonna happen. Make a warm drink & read a book or something.

Thanks, I needed your comment to feel slightly better about this! I am grateful my baby is asleep. You can bet if she was awake I would be holding her nodding off! Hope your little one let's you go back to bed soon too!

Thanks Bobbiepin. I'm on the sofa as our spare room is occupied. Decided to give in to it and just accept being awake. Laying in bed getting frustrated wasn't helping!

I had this all the time with my first. So frustrating. I’m pregnant now and am awake for 2-3h every other night. Grrr!

I hope thr weekend means you have someone at home that can have the baby for a while so you can nap! I'm up with DD forva feed that's lasted almost an hour so far so definitely want a nap later!

I've had this a number of times over the last year. It is extremely frustrating - I try to ride it out to the point I'm so tired I basically pass out in my bed and then DH takes DS in the morning. Try not to be too hard on yourself - wouldn't advise coffee but maybe some hot chocolate or herbal tea and a piece of toast in front of Friends or something for an hour then try again.

This too shall pass. You will make it through, I promise. Do some breathing exercises, read a book, think of all the things you do have to be grateful for. This time of craziness won't last forever.

YANBU I'll join you.
Been bfing one night on and off all night, she has a bunged up nose so kept waking. DH sleeping soundly next to us. He's now finally taken her down stairs but is being SO loud that my visiting Dad is probably being kept awake and I am now awake beyond getting back to sleep.

What a fun day it's going to be.

Been up with my 2 week old since 2:30. he has had the new born sniffles and rather then keep all three of is awake i have grabbed him and retreated downstairs so OH can sleep at least. He can take over later so i can nap.

sw2102 · 17/02/2018 05:33

Thank you everyone. It's comforting to know you aren't the only one up at these hours of the morning! My plan at the moment.. MN till I drop!

Aahh the insomniacs countdown, I know it well [waves]

"If I start counting sheep now I should get 5 hours"
"If I get to sleep soon I will get 4 hours"
"I NEED to sleep as it will soon be only 3 hours..."

etc
etc
etc

All you can do is decide to not sleep, its the only way. Leave a note for DH that he is in charge and you will probably crash out about half an hour before you would normally wake up.

If it's any consolation I've not even had my baby yet - 30 weeks pregnant and up from around 1.30/2 until about 6 - every.flaming.night 😥
