What is good bone structure or good cheekbones?

Not a thread about a thread but I keep seeing this mentioned - here and other places.

Does good bone structure mean symmetrical facial features? What are good cheekbones really? I googled and got some bizarre complicated test to check if you had high or low cheekbones Grin

I think lots of face shapes are very pretty or beautiful, I'm not sure which fall into these categories. Or maybe it's that I get distracted by amazing hair or eyes or a smile or something, so am not looking for 'good bone structure' when I find someone pretty or whatever?

It's a little confusing!

How do you define these things?

I think it means someone with pronounced cheekbones - see Audrey Hepburn or angelina jolie for examples.

My DM had fabulous cheekbones. Sadly I look like my dad!!

dontcallmedarlin · 15/02/2018 15:35

Prominent I guess. Not as in skeletal but enough to see a smooth, curve each side of the nose.
Don't need good cheek bones to be beautiful though.

LuluBellaBlue · 15/02/2018 15:37

I presume this has come from the aging thread, where people were saying those with good bone structure and high cheek bones age better - or grow into their looks?

It’s where someone’s cheek bones are very pronounced, and or high I guess? I presume if you were looking a different face shapes it would be people with heart and oval shaped faces?? Might be wrong there though!

Keepgoing18 · 15/02/2018 15:42

Ah Angelina's cheekbones are prominent, that does make sense to me!
Yep saw the phrase most recently on that thread but it comes up regularly here and there.

My example for "great bone structure, great cheekbones " is Jennifer Saunders.

When French & Saunders was on TV regularly, they were always doing piss-takes of famous films. Jennifer Saunders could be made up to look like anyone - I always thought that was a result of good bone structure.

think of good bone structure as like scaffolding for the face. Kate Moss is someone with great cheekbones.

There is a lady at my gym who is about to turn 46. She is really slim and long limbed, great shoulders and the most amazing cheekbones. We all agree she is the most striking women. Great genetics I guess.

DuchyDuke · 04/05/2018 15:35

Good cheekbones, strong jawline, pronounced forehead / brow.

lhastingsmua · 04/05/2018 15:40

Good, sharp jawline, nice chin (ie not a ‘weak chin’ or double chin/butt chin), high, prominent cheekbones, flattering nose/smile etc.

I'm often told I have good bone structure. I think it means high cheekbones. Excuse my hormonal chin spots

I look more chiselled with age. I look at photos when I was younger and a good stone or so lighter and despite this my face looks chubbier back then. So one benefit of ageing for me!

Busybeesbutt · 04/05/2018 19:33

Beard and hearts you have fantastic bone structure based on that photo. I always think Jennifer Saunders has great bone structure too x

TheDowagerCuntess · 04/05/2018 19:40

Kate Moss.

I also think Nigella has amazing facial bone structure. She is quite voluptuous - in most people, that would translate to a chubbier face. Not her.

My gym friend seems to have these cheekbones that reflect the light. They make her face look so striking from different angles. Coupled with the fact that she is at least 5ft 9 and also very long slim limbs with broad shoulders. No evidence of botox as she has frown lines etc.
Beard and hearts you have great cheekbones.

Kate Moss has amazing bone structure with particularly fabulous cheekbones.

BGD2012 · 04/05/2018 21:19

Kate Moss and Debbie Harry. The actor from Peaky blinders too.

The woman who plays Carla Connor in corrie

Faye Dunnaway is a perfect example of good bone structure (see pic). However, she hasn't aged well - she has wrecked her face with cosmetic procedures/surgery.
