to be irritated by DM?

In a conversation about neighbour extending house, DM has suggested that having more bedrooms than inhabitants in house is pretentious.

Also, buying new furniture for said extension would be pretentious, and doing so would be just to show off.

AIBU to be irritated abd think this is unnecessary and judgmental?

Generally DM thinks that you should do everything as cheaply as possible, such as own plumbing/car issues anyway, even if it causes huge hassle

It's just her opinions. Maybe it's because she grew up in a more austere environment, it's hard to shake that off.

I grew up in the 70s. Kids rarely had their own rooms and dad did most of the plumbing and fixed the car. My dad would have spent all day under the car fixing it rather than a pay a mechanic to get it running in 5 minutes.

She's unreasonable to call neighbour's show offs though. Maybe they are extending to take in elderly relatives or have space for adult children.
