re Rennies and sugar free February

CurlyRover · 09/02/2018 17:31

I'm doing cancer research's sugar free February. Several people have already sponsored me and others have said they'll sponsor me once I've done the full month.

I've been getting a lot of heartburn and bought some Rennies and have had a few. I've just checked the ingredients and they contain sugar Shock

WIBU to not tell anyone I've had them and still collect my sponsorship money?

And WIBU to continue using them to help my heartburn?

You can get sugar-free rennies :)

LivingInMidnight · 09/02/2018 17:33

Was about to suggest sugar free rennies too. I don't think I'd care if I had sponsored you though! Wouldn't worry.

Lastoftheusernames · 09/02/2018 17:34

Google alternative remedies. There's other stuff you can take to help with heartburn. Also look at your diet to see if your eating things that might cause it.

YANBU to not tell anyone as it was a mistake.

Lastoftheusernames · 09/02/2018 17:34

*you're not your!

WowOoo · 09/02/2018 17:35

Rennies are medicinal so are exempt. Hope everyone's being generous!

A mint is also acceptable on the grounds of bad breath...No one can argue with that, can they?

Fluffyears · 09/02/2018 17:36

Rennies are useless. Get ranitidine from the chemist (Zantac is ranitidine) quicker, more effective and lasts longer.

Rebeccaslicker · 09/02/2018 17:37

It's not like you sneaked a king sized mars bar - you were taking a medical remedy. I would just buy the sugar free ones and not worry; you're still doing something great for charity!

Ihatemarmite123 · 09/02/2018 18:13

Lol seriously?

Some tablets are sugar coated, would you declare these?

CurlyRover · 09/02/2018 19:09

Ohh that's a good way of looking at it marmite. That's made me feel loads better Smile (as has this thread in general)

What about fruit? Or a lot veg is sugary?

InToMyHeart · 09/02/2018 19:25

If I had sponsored you I wouldn't expect you to avoid medication with sugar in.

Unless you don't really need the Rennies though and you're just using them for a sugar hit! Wink

CurlyRover · 09/02/2018 20:05

Fruit and veg is fine as I've only given up refined sugar

Sugar free when fruit is allowed . paltrow science! Hardly a challenge.

They even talk about sugar free cakes! CBA but bet that includes honey or crappy sweeteners.

Just donate, rather than silly gimmicks.

CurlyRover · 10/02/2018 08:53

It might not be a challenge for you but it is a challenge for me.

As an overweight cake chocolate and biscuit lover, it's been damn hard going since.

Technically you can have honey or sweeteners but I haven't been.

You are well within your rights to not sponsor anyone doing it but equally there's no need to be rude about those who want to do it.

OP posts:
specialsubject · 10/02/2018 10:14

Facts aren't rude. This isnt sugar free. Bad science.

I donate via a direct debit rather than high overhead babbly campaigns.

CurlyRover · 10/02/2018 12:25

Maybe you should take it up with cancer research if you've got such a problem with the campaign.

I was referring to your hardly a challenge comment when I called you rude.

I could stop my donation, I suppose. But that seems a bit petty. All large chairites have outbreaks of dickishness.

LadyDeadpool · 10/02/2018 15:19

Absolutely fine, it is medical need. A lot of painkillers are sugar coated too! But if you want real relief get rantadine - 95p in wilkos for 12 and one tablet will kill the heartburn for the entire day it's the only thing that stopped me throwing up with the worlds worst indigestion while pregnant.

CurlyRover · 10/02/2018 15:39

I'm not sure how encouraging people to give up refined sugar is dickish. But to each their own.

Thanks LadyDeadpool I'll be sure to check out Wilkos.
