OK, I know IABU but I'm posting for traffic. I need to arrange a work meeting whilst on mat leave, I need to arrange for a unison rep to be there but I've been lucky enough to not know how it works so far. Can someone tell me how it works and do I have a briefing or something with this rep first?

I spoke to my Unison rep on the phone and then she came round to my house before the meeting and then she came to the meeting. I had to ask for the meeting to be pushed back to give time for that to happen

contact UNISON - they will be able to explain it - or talk to your rep
