AIBU to think that adding a one word reply (such as 'bookmarking') to a thread where someone's life is falling apart is incredibly poor form?
Fine when you're keen to hear baby news or how a date went, etc. (although a supportive message would be nicer!) but if you're just grabbing a cuppa to watch someone's world come crashing around them why not just watch the thread without comment?
Or am I really missing something here?

People turn off their desktops, laptops or phones, or close down browsers, and then want to go back and look. If you have commented on a thread you can find it easily under "I'm on" or "I'm watching" if you have your preferences set to watching all threads you have commented on!

I often watch threads but as it aquit ehidden I think many don't know it's there or how to use it.

It's fiddlier to watch a thread from mobile site but only just more than adding a reply. I guess people just want to manage all their threads on TIO rather than switching between TIO and TIW.

The Android one used to be unbearably shit, so many people gave it up and haven't bothered trying since. The minimal additional functionality (e.g. easy Watch) hasn't tempted us back.

So when you say "why don't people just ..." and I say "because the app is shit" that was actually shorthand for "because they don't use the app for reasons".

Haven't used desktop site for a while. Can't remember if there's a facility for bookmark? Presumably not.
