Just had to come home and change my jeans! Having the period from hell and leaked everywhere. So embarrassed I just text my Male boss to tell him I’d be back soon, girl stuff! Worst bit is we have an offsite meeting later and it’ll be just me and him in the car for 2 hours

I've been there! I went to the drs because I had been bleeding for weeks for no apparent reason and when I went to get up to leave there was blood all over the chair. Wanted the ground to swallow me.

Ohhh it's the worst! I leaked all over my jeans in a cinema once (the seat was fine though thankfully) and just had to wrap my hoodie around my waist when trying to make my way back home. I was with a friend but couldn't bring myself to tell her what happened but she did wonder why I wasn't wearing my hoodie as it was the winter and there was snow on the ground.

Good luck op! Maybe try a combination of sanitary products?

I've had to do this too. It's horrible. Luckily I live close to my work. I now use double protection - tampon and pad.

I have this everytime and medication does not help.

Double up on sanitary wear, pad and tampon and change often also take another set of spare clothes.

Are you near a LIDL? Their incontinence pads are absolutely amazing at containing periods from Hell.

My husband wouldn't bat an eyelid about this neither would my BIL, Dad or grown up son so I doubt your boss will.

Don't worry about it. I find wine and chocolate helps

Mooncups are good. Also I quite often read on here about specialist pants which help to keep it all in. Can't remember quite what they're called - is it Thinx? Diary Doll?
Nothing to be embarrassed about with your boss. Half the population have periods for much of their lives.

Menstrual Period Leakproof Panties there are whole ranges of these now which might help in the future at least with peace of mind.

Ive been there, many times. Once was at an evening Christmas thing in my local cathedral, and leaked everywhere. I thankfully had a long black coat on which I could hide it all until I got home.
I also had a car journey period, well, explosion for want of a better word. We were taking our dd and her friend to an event. I thought my period had pretty much ended so only used a normal pad for the car journey. On the way up I sneezed and oh my good god! We were meant to go for a walk with the dog while she was at the event. Instead, I had to try and clean myself up the best I could, and then go to m&s and buy new jeans, knickers and thankfully they had some sanitary towels, and wipes, and get cleaned up and changed. It was awful!
I went to the dr about it and discovered I had a massive poyp which needed removing under anaesthetic. If you are having this issue every month, I do suggest you go and see your gp.

If it makes you feel any better, I once came on unexpectedly early at work. I bled through pants, leggings and a thick woolen jumper dress... of course it was cream . Worse still, I completely flooded my chair within the space of an hour and it was lime green, so mixed with blood it looked like poo

It's an open plan office in a male dominated environment. The stain on my dress was about the size of a side plate and bright red, and the chair stain was the size of my hand and a dirty, poo-brown.

I had no tampons or pads with me (unexpectedly early period) and no coat, so i scooted on my chair all the way through the office until I reached the receptionist (only other female in the building). I got a few funny looks as it's a very long office and it was a bit weird, but no one commented. I was crying slightly by the time I reached her and mercifully, she was a complete diamond. She walked behind me so we could get to the loo unseen, then nipped out and bought me a new dress, leggings, pads and pants from Tesco across the road. On her way back she hid my chair in the store cupboard and got me a spare one.

I returned to my desk an hour later in a completely new outfit having scooted out on a wheelie chair, and not a single person raised an eyebrow

I'd never said two words to this lady previously, but we're now good friends and have been for 5 years!

Go to your gp and ask them to prescribe you Tranexamic acid. It helps to reduce the flow of blood during heavy periods.

Keep a spare change of clothes, pads, wet loo wipes and disposable period pants in your drawers from now on.

I've been there too. Have a certain dress I wear at work now for heaviest day of period. I also double up, nighttime pad and a mooncup. I'm so heavy that I get anaemic and I'm monitored for regular iron infusions when I'm low. If this happens often, See your GP and explain, there may be other reasons for it.

I’ve stopped taking the mini pill and haven’t had a period since October so I think that could be the reason. The mini pill was making me feel quite down I think and weirdly not having periods made me feel so paranoid about being pregnant! So decided to stop taking it and get back to normal.
I’ve never got on with tampons, always felt so uncomfortable. I’ve doubled up with 2 night time pads 🙈
Maybe will try the doctor if they don’t settle down. Had to get up in the night twice, it’s literally the worst thing about being female!

Oh gosh, I hate it when that happens! I've had a few explosions, first was in the car with my dad on a 4 hour journey. Stopped at service station and stood up to find the car seat absolutely drenched in blood and of course my cream jumper dress too. I hadn't even told my dad I had started my periods, was so embarrassed and I was only 12! There have been multiple other times too like fil's mint green sofa, airplane seat, restaurant booth. Ugh, so embarrassing. Its happened to the most of us and as mortifying as it is try not to worry too much. Hopefully your male boss will understand the "girls stuff" code and wont question you. I can't use tampons when I'm really heavy as (sorry tmi) it can be very clotty so I use the lild incontinence pads a pp mentioned, if you can get there they are very good at containing super nova periods! Take some spare clothes too and if you can bring yourself to tell your boss put a towel on the car seat.

Take some ibruprofen it helps lighten the flow. Though you may need something stronger in the future if it happens again.

Double up for now and invest in some period pants. They are meant to be really good and hold even the worst of flows!
Keep up your iron too! Heavy ones always leave me anemic.

I will try these pads from Lidl. Anything has to be worth a try!

Oh poor you! I have this problem today as well.

Last time I had a period from hell, my DH went to buy me some sanitary towels, but he came back with Tena Lady pads that were so big they were like a mini nappy! I cried with laughter when I saw them, but later in the week I had such a bad cough that I had stress incontinence!
They were ace and I'd get them again!

It's horrible when this happens, but any decent boss will understand. And I promise you, the very last thing he's going to want to do in the car is to talk about your period.

Hie thyself to thy doctor and ask for tranexamic and mefenamic acid if it doesn't calm down. They reduce the bleeding a bit and act as a pathetically mild pain reliever.

Oh, wasn't the receptionist wonderful Bigfatfanny, we all dread this. I once started on a beach whilst in France. I was wearing black cycling shorts (cycling holiday) and had to use one of those wretched 'turkish' loos where you squat over what is pretty much just a hole in the ground - and take your own tissues as no paper. I went to a pharmacy where I mistakenly bought some incontinence pads instead of STs but they were effective despite swishing when I walked. Thank God for the menopause - if I had to put up with that crap all my life I think I'd throw myself off a cliff.

I had tests and all sorts, best they could come up with was there were a few cysts on ovaries which might be causing heavy flow ( heavy? it was like Niagara Falls, some days I just stated home and stood in shower!) OR it could be peri-menopause (symptoms occur a decade before full menopause?!).

I would swear by changing to a mooncup/divacup - best thing EVER.
I also ended up with Mirena coil and now have no period at all.

Ah bless you, flooding is seriously unfunny. Thought it kept happening to me lately because of, you know, the ten effing year peri menopause. But no, apparently not, happened to my poor 15 y/o DD on Monday, she was in tears because it was so bad, and she’s usually stoic, so I let her off school for the first time ever (period related that is) because I understood how she felt. Last happened to me when I got to the airport for holiday flight last summer. Left home with a very light, non problematic, flow. By the time I got to the loo, there was flooding down my legs, massive clots (sorry tmi), it looked like there'd been a muuurrrrderrr in my pants. It was a 14 hour flight. In white trousers.
