To sit in front of a computer that you are not using with your laptop on the desk in front of it, in a busy university library? Why take up a computer that somebody may need to use and then sit with your headphones in so you can't even hear if somebody politely asks you to move? Am I missing something?

Why not just go and sit at an empty table? Confused

Er tap in the shoulder and a polite excuse me op. Come on you can do it Grin

falsepriest · 06/02/2018 13:52

Yup. Give the CF a prod.

upshltcreek · 06/02/2018 13:53

I have seen people do it more than once, I just don't get the logic.

Perhaps they want to use the computer to look up references on the university network but their work is on their laptop?

Maybe the chairs are more comfortable or there is more privacy?

But, yes, if there are no empty computers, and they are not using it, they should move. Ask them, or, ask a librarian to ask them if you don't feel you can (maybe ask the librarians if they could put up a sign for future reference too)

To use the network cable probably

upshltcreek · 06/02/2018 14:55

The screen was black, it definitely wasn't turned on the university has free communal WiFi.

I think you may go to ny uni

Oh that happens all the time - just ask the librarian to ask them to shift if you’re not assertive enough.
