It's my husband's theory, not mine. I realise it's just a kids programme but he wants other people's views on this one.
So, he thinks the narrator is the true scoutmaster of the squirrels and Duggee is merely his prop.
Reasons:
- Duggee never decides anything and the narrator tells what's happening. The narrator also tells Duggee what's going on.
- The narrator has to translate for Duggee for both the squirrels and the viewers.
- The narrator doesn't just explain the show, he drives the show.
- Duggee is just 'there' and he's being told what to do. He obeys the narrator like a good dog.
