To ask about Royal Mail letter

Basically sent copies of my passport, drivers licence and also an occupational health and disclosure form at the start of last week to the HR dept of a job I’m applying for . 4 days later , I then received the occupational health form in an envelope from Royal Mail saying ‘ found loose in the post ‘ The next day I received the copy of my drivers license but didn’t receive the disclosure form back or the copy of my passport
Why would they have ended up loose in the post?
I had put about 5 stamps on the envelope, so it sounds bizarre but would it be someone stealing the stamps? The envelope was well sealed
It’s not ideal also as passports etc have personal details-as well as occ health form
Anyone know why that would happen. I know it’s a boring thread but just wondered if anyone has experienced that?

A relative had a letter returned to her recently that had got caught in the sorting machinery and torn from its envelope, so they didn't know where it was supposed to be going. They did explain that though and it was a bit scuffed and marked so had obviously been caught up somewhere.

I've had stuff delivered in a special envelope (think it had 'ooops' on it!?) that had been torn open somehow.

Not sure if any of that is helpful! Just trying to say envelopes do get torn / lost sometimes.

I think it’s rare but occasionally letters get ripped or lost in Royal Mail, sometimes they get caught in machines etc.

With special documents it’s usually a good idea to send them recorded delivery so you can track them, a bit extra money I know but not worth losing them.

Thanks Anoia and Sparkle- yes next time I’ll send them recorded . It did cross my mind and I wish I’d done that

Watch out for identify theft. There's a copy of your disclosure form with all your details on it, and a scan of your passport, unaccounted for.

Perhaps mashed by a sorting machine.

Perhaps opened by a crooked postie.

Britbat- that’s what I’m worried about
Should I be phoning Royal Mail or anything?
