Menopause

I started SW a year ago & lost 10 stones in 10 months. Had 1 stone to go, then Christmas came. I had a few days off plan. Ever since Ive been craving sweet stuff. I seem to have 1 week on plan & 1 week binging....have put 7lbs on. In that time I've started the menopause with hot flushes every night & very poor sleep. Has anyone else struggled to diet during their menopause or AIBU blaming that & just looking for excuses?

Since the menopause hit me I have had a much sweeter tooth. HRT sorted the hot flushes very quickly. I’ve had to exercise iron will to avoid weight gain although even then my shape has subtly changed.

Having said all that it’s not been that bad. And I quite like getting the Rage sometimes. It’s powerful. Smile

I just find that weight comes off more slowly, and with more plateaus. Tiredness from not sleeping can increase cravings, particularly for carbs and sugar. It's not so much that keeping to a WOE is more difficult day-to-day, but the slowness of losses and frequent stalling can be demotivating - when I have been strict and not lost on my weekly weigh in.

However, the weight WILL come off if you stick to your WOE. If SW isn't working for you, have you considered low-carb high fat? I find that easier than low fat/calorie/syn counting diets.
