We have put down a deposit on a new car as dc3 is soon to put in an appearance. We've been offered a couple of £100 for part exchange on our old car. My husband thinks we'd be better off keeping it until the tax runs out in June. I disagree.
He cycles to work. It's only 15mins each way, but I think he'd like the option of driving. We're also due to move house in the next couple of months and he thinks it'd be handy to have another car.
We have to decide in the next day or so. I've done a bit of research. We'd only get £100 max for scrapping it in June. And we'd have to pay around £400 in tax, insurance, breakdown cover etc. I think the extra £500 will be welcome with a new house and baby!
What would you do? I like the idea of just getting rid, but AIBU?
