Someone senior at work came up at me and said “we will go for that coffee at some point!” (they had offered to take me for a coffee as a departmental intro)

I didn’t know what to say so just said “sure when’s good?”

A bit of me feels like I was pressganging them into making a decision there and then?! Argh

I don’t know, I just panic sometimes! Stupid I know. Yes he had a think and we settled on Friday, I said I’d send an invite through. I just genuinely don’t know how to handle work social interaction sometimes, I’m generally good socially but get very anxious and try to hide it

It could have been odd if you’d reminded them about the coffee offer or answered them with a flustered, ‘Oh no, don’t worry about it that’s not necessary,’

Your answer is fine, what id have done as the interest/intent was obviously there and i may forget if date isn't set then.
And I always think "yes let's arrange something soon" Is a bit brush offy so I'd say you did the correct thing!
