AIBU to hate it when adults use words such as yum, yummy, yucky and yuck?

I see it quite often on here and it annoys me.

You need to get out more.

inkandstone · 30/01/2018 20:02

YANBU. It's cringey.

EggsonHeads · 30/01/2018 20:03

I must admit some things make me think yuck immediately as a Ines jerk reaction. Like infidelity or baby wiping instead of showering on a regular basis.

DemolitionLover · 30/01/2018 20:49

Ickyockycocky

I get out plenty thanks.

^ you shouldn't exactly need a book to know that those words are generally used by or to children...

Greensleeves · 31/01/2018 01:45

What's your stance on words like bleugh and eeuw?

SilenceIsBroken · 31/01/2018 01:50

YANBU. See also icky, and nomnom.

Greensleeves · 31/01/2018 01:51

om nom nom makes me want to reach into someone's chest, rip out their beating heart and eat it like an apple

Ginkypig · 31/01/2018 01:55

This thread is so yucky, I'm off to find a yummy thread

These words don't bother me really.

"eat it like an apple"

Nom nom.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 31/01/2018 07:39

Sorry don't agree

Both yum and yuck are essential words in some scenario IMO

"This is delicious" and "this is revolting" take so much longer to say/type Grin

Tobuyornot99 · 31/01/2018 07:42

Totally agree, I can't take an adult seriously if they use words like yummy / yucky / tummy etc (unless in convert with a small child).
Also can't stand people who put 'y' on the end of food and drink, so if something were described as beefy or milky it was make me rage a bit, no idea why really!

youngnomore · 31/01/2018 07:47

Never even crossed my mind to be annoyed at something like this Hmm. There are so many other things I’m annoyed about. Yummy /yuck isn’t on the list.

Bluesheep8 · 31/01/2018 07:54

Agree with a pp about nom nom - just why?! Drives me bonkers and always makes me think of the action/sound of someone eating with their mouth open and talking at the same time. Why would you want to replicate that?

Ickyockycocky · 31/01/2018 12:26

I'm astonished people have the time and inclination to be bothered about such things.

hushnowthanks · 31/01/2018 12:53

Makes me so annoyed that I could actually weep. It’s especially irritating in contexts such as social media posts whereby a person is referring to their own cooking:

Just made a really yummy stir fry - nom nom.

Angry aaaaaaaargh
