Young children that hate school

Is it normal for a child as young as 5 to hate school?? He cries every morning about having to go and as actually said he hates it. I don't remember disliking school till I was a teenager. Anyone else got a child that doesn't like school. Bit worried since I have 16 (or is it 18 now?) more years of this!

I'm sure a lot do to begin with, in part because it is new and away from home. Does he enjoy it when there?

We withdrew my 5 yr old as she was nigh on school refusing a d exceedingly anxious, cried most of the day when there etc. But I saw a lot of kids upset to begin with and fine within minutes.

I will say however that the teachers told me my daughter was the same, it was other parents who reported seeing her crying, alone etc later in the day. I felt a little let down by that.

I was like that. I remember being utterly bored and hated going. I made few friends and didn't enjoy the work.

I was lucky as I was quite advanced (at that age) so my mum had taught me a lot before I started school, but it meant I was bored whilst there.

Once I hit Junior School things were much better as it all evened out and by high school I enjoyed going most days.

I never really kicked up a massive fuss about going though so that's probably something to explore more deeply...
