Hostess is a good old friend and mumsnet ter actually. Is it rude and smelly and toxic to do so, or nee bother?

YABU. The smell still clings to everything, bedding, curtains etc. I wouldn't like it personally but then I hate the synthetic sweet smell

WorraLiberty · 28/01/2018 10:40

Why would you ask us rather than her?

Genuine question btw as you describe her as a good old friend.

AuntLydia · 28/01/2018 10:40

Ask her not us!

PlateOfBiscuits · 28/01/2018 10:41

I would hate it but it’s up to your friend.

thecatsthecats · 28/01/2018 10:41

Ask her! She's throwing only one who can tell you if she minds.

RonaldMcDonald · 28/01/2018 10:41

Ask her

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 28/01/2018 10:42

I wouldn’t allow it in my home

MagicWillHappen · 28/01/2018 10:43

Depends what you're vaping. If you have a particularly strong fruity smelll, she may well get a whiff, so I would ask.

Personally, I vape 'tobacco' which smells of nothing as I hate the sweet ones. I wouldn't ask because it's undetectable so I'd just do it.

Monoblock67 · 28/01/2018 10:46

Vapes are great but I don’t think they should be used anywhere that you wouldn’t have a cigarette

diodati · 28/01/2018 10:50

Never do anything that you worry might offend or upset your host. Treat them and their home with the utmost respect. Having houseguests is eventually tiring and disruptive; do everything you can to accommodate your host. Do not vape in the room you've been assigned to but if your host invites you to vape with them, feel free to do so.

ChasedByBees · 28/01/2018 10:52

If hate t if a guest did that. She may not.

Glumglowworm · 28/01/2018 11:03

I’d hate this

Ask your friend! Some people don’t mind and some people do. But if she says no then don’t just do it anyway

sexnotgender · 28/01/2018 11:04

Yuck, I’d absolutely hate someone doing this in my home.

BuzzKillington · 28/01/2018 11:05

I'd hate it.

Do it outside.

OddBoots · 28/01/2018 11:07

Discuss it with your host.

kaytee87 · 28/01/2018 11:09

Weird that you're asking strangers on the internet rather than your friend.
I wouldn't like it in my house but others might not mind.

SparklyMagpie · 28/01/2018 11:16

Just ask Her! Bloody hell Hmm

Chapterandverse · 28/01/2018 11:17

Don't.

Did you vape in her living room last night?

Roomba · 28/01/2018 11:18

Wouldn't both me as long as it wasn't a strong smelling juice and you opened a window a bit to let some fresh air in afterwards. Ask!

toriatoriatoria · 28/01/2018 11:19

I'd not be impressed but ask her what she thinks.

Mc180768 · 28/01/2018 11:30

I'm a vaper and I wouldn't dream of asking my host if I could vape anywhere in her home. I'd go outside.

I wouldn’t.

specialsubject · 28/01/2018 11:32

Are you unable to go outside and downwind? Not as bad as the real thing but still a bit pongy.

HairyBallTheorem · 28/01/2018 11:33

Ask.

My dad's lodger used to vape in her room (he was fine with it) - 6 months later, I can still smell it when I go in there. It really lingers in the soft furnishings.
