Ginger hair dye!

I love red hair in all its shades. I look good with a nice ginger tint to my hair, but these days I'm mousy brown.

I've just tried to "balayage" my hair with a kit, which has been a complete disaster, but at least I have a lovely gingery colour all over! 😂😂😂

Aibu to wish I could buy an actual hair dye product intended to colour hair gingery shades instead of plum red or honey blonde?

Xl mango twist?

GinAndSonic · 28/01/2018 09:51

You can get ginger hair dye. I've been dying my hair ginger for two years. Superdrug own brand permanent dye in "mango copper burst". Undeniably ginger.

Ooh, I've never seen either of those in the shops!! The Cornish and Devonian buyers must be anti-ginger, they certainly don't sell any similar shares anywhere I've been. Ace, will look into this some more thanks!

Henna? Body art quality (BAQ) is very irish setter colour.
Or the adore range of semi permanents? Have a look at the beeunique site.
Neither of the above are damaging

Best ginger I've ever used!!!
Love, love, LOVE IT!!!
You can get it from most supermarkets and chemists. On darker hair it's a lovely shade of ginger. But I even bleached mine to get the shade on the box aswell.
I always recommend it when people ask about ginger hair.

I have mine done at the hairdresser and it's copper you have to ask for. If you ask for red you're done for.

Nefer795 · 28/01/2018 10:30

Naturtint Arizona copper. I buy it from Amazon. Not tested on animals, I can't find a dye I can use easily in shops. The vivid copper doesn't last long but I love it.

thecatsthecats · 28/01/2018 10:34

I can vouch for the superdrug one, plus they have an excellent matching root spray for in between colourings.

Lellochip · 28/01/2018 10:37

I always struggled to find a good ginge, use henna instead which I love but it is totally permanent so is definitely a commitment

I second what IHeart says ask for copper. Don't ask for red or auburn. I have learnt this from bitter experience.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 28/01/2018 13:14

Paprika from L’oreal Was the best I used. Our local huge supermarket barely stocks any hair dye these days, so I can’t get it.

MysteryLovesCompany · 28/01/2018 13:20

If you want to go bold Arctic Fox hair dye do a lovely orange.

So, I did it....!

From mousy / darkish brown to very red! It seems more red than ginger, but I'm sure it'll settle down.

I used to dye my hair dark brown to hide the fact that I'm a natural ginger (not like anyone could see my roots at all...). I used ginger hair dye whilst i was growing my natural back, though i could never quite get it to match so i had really bad roots for a long time. It looks great by the way op

RandomMess · 07/05/2018 13:11

What did you use in the end?

SilverHairedCat · 07/05/2018 15:28

I went for the Feria Preference. Had to buy it on a trip to Liverpool, as I couldn't find any of the recommended shades in my area!

SilverHairedCat · 07/05/2018 15:29

Bugger. NC fail. Ah well.
