To quite like being a little bit poorly?

I've had to call in sick to work tonight, I HATE calling in sick and rarely do it but I just felt that needs must. There's nothing majorly wrong with me, but I feel very achey, headachy, a bit dizzy, weak, sneezing etc. Mild flu symptoms if you like (although I do know it's not actual flu). Nobody has been left short and I hope to be back in work tomorrow.

Once the initial guilt went away, I started thinking about how I quite like being a little bit ill/under the weather and if I am bu?! It's an excuse to stay in, be cosy in pyjamas, watch some rubbish on Netflix and eat chocolate whilst relaxing and receivering. Anyone else agree?

Disclaimer: I would never wish myself to be 'properly' ill and of course have full sympathy for those who are. I know it's an overly used phrase but this thread is meant as 'lighthearted'.

Ill enough to need to lay on the sofa all day and watch Netflix, but not too ill so you can enjoy it!
Yanbu. When I was recovering from swine flu, I felt like this. if I tried to get up to do anything more than go for a loo break, I felt tired and wobbly. However, when I was reclined on the sofa I felt fine. It's the best way to be ill!
I'd rather have swine flu again than be subject to a nasty gastric bug. Now there's an illness you just can't enjoy.

Now I'm a mum I will never experience this again! Enjoy!

Yes I know exactly what you mean, I quite enjoy it too.

I've had similar mild flu symptoms today op but I went to work as I've already skived a day this week....

YANBU. I've always thought that. Being ill enough to justify calling in sick but well enough to feel happy is the best!

gingergenius · 26/01/2018 21:31

@Ginger1982 - you will. Give it time!!!

YANBU. I am having a complicated end of pregnancy and ended up in hospital for a few hours this week. I knew everything was fine and they were just checking stuff to be cautious. My ds was with his granny. I had a ward to myself, my kindle... I was secretly hoping that I'd be kept in overnight! Grin

I am quite tempted with catching scabies as you are a bit itchy but in my line of work you can't come into work for a week so you don't pass it onto others. It would be a bit of a bugger making sure I don't pass it onto the rest of my own family, and it is caused by tiny insects crawling under your skin BUT a paid week off work when not really ill would be bliss. Currently we have one colleague off with it at moment and am a tad jealous.
