Cheeky or not?

I was watching an item on ebay. It wasn't cheap but I missed it. I messaged the seller asking if they would consider doing a buy it now for the price it ended as no one had bidded on it and they relisted it. They seller responded saying someone else had also messaged them wanting it and as I messaged them first, they will give me first refusal, but at a higher price than what it ended. Aibu in thinking this is cheeky and thinking that they didn't get another message? Bit of a coincidence that we were both watching it and both missed and then both messaged.

If you don’t buy it, what will you do?

Probably trying it on but that's his absolute right - as it is yours to walk away and wait for the next one. There will be another - there always is on eBay

It's not needed really so I don't mind not buying it I just don't believe there is another buyer who wants it. I've told them I will leave it.

They’re probably just chancing their arm. A little bit cheeky but it depends on how much you want it really.
