To really dislike the Speakmans?

Just seen them on This Morning.
They make me absolutely savage and I sometimes find the way they try to change peoples' 'thoughts' on a traumatic experience, slightly condescending.

I don't completely understand CBT tbh, maybe it's just not suitable for me specifically and perhaps it does work for certain people.

Yes. They obviously help a lot of people.
Though they were saying GAD doesn’t exist.. it does

I am not keen on televised therapy/councilling anyway and i agree about the speakmans they are condescending and act like the nanosecond phone in change lives, people who are struggiling might get a peak of positivity but that might fade when the phone convo stops it makes me really uncomfy.

MrsJayy · 24/01/2018 12:07

Their thoughts on GAD were dodgy to say the least

loobylou10 · 24/01/2018 12:08

I think the many people they have helped would say YABU

Bloomed · 24/01/2018 12:10

I wonder how long their help works for? If it does have long term effects.

MidnightTrain1 · 24/01/2018 12:11

They renamed the track to their house 'Speakman Lane' and used to drive around like lord and lady of the manor in a bright yellow Hummer Hmm

NorwNewCat · 24/01/2018 12:12

I agree , they are arrogant , condescending and irritating.

GAD definitely exists !

OneDayIWish · 24/01/2018 12:13

They have also been selling their book and DVD on QVC. They appear to help people, but I always wonder how long it lasts for.

MrsJayy · 24/01/2018 12:17

If people go to them over a number of sessions and those people feel better great but phone ins and dismissing anxiety disorders on tv isn't great imo. I felt the same when paul mckenna was in vogue.
