To complain about the coffee?

Should you go complain about the coffee if you ordered decaf and are obviously 8 hours later still caffeinated to the point of no chance of sleeping tonight? I clearly stated decaf to the waitress, thought she ignored me, so I inquired on taking the coffee if it was decaf, was assured it was and here I am, strung as a zipwire hours later.

To make things worse, I quitted caffeine as a part of pre IVF and now this week will be twice as hard to stay off the stuff...

The trouble is, you can't prove it...there are other reasons which could see you wired.

There is still caffeine in decaf coffee so you are going to have to give up the coffee and chocolate entirely.
No point to complaining because there is no way of knowing.

I think if it’s that serious you should look at cutting it out altogether/only drinking at home.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/01/2018 01:41

There's more caffeine in decaf coffee than tea.

VladmirsPoutine · 22/01/2018 01:42

Complaining won't solve anything, nor help you to sleep. Give up coffee entirely if its impact on you is this severe.

Butterymuffin · 22/01/2018 01:52

8 hours on and a single cup of coffee has made you unable to sleep? That's pretty extreme. I'd stay away from all tea and coffee if it's that bad.

Kokeshi123 · 22/01/2018 02:08

You can't prove it, that's the problem.

Not to be bossy, but going online in the middle of the night is not a good idea if you are prone to sleep issues (I live in a non-UK timezone, BTW...). I suggest a cup of herbal tea, a hot water bottle and dimming the lights if you feel wide awake.

Good luck with your IVF treatment.

"8 hours on and a single cup of coffee has made you unable to sleep?"

This is me. I can't drink tea or coffee after about 11am! Have always been weirdly susceptible to caffeine.

esk1mo · 22/01/2018 02:27

might not be any use complaining Sad

im coeliac and have been glutened loads of times, even though ive specified i need gluten free. they can just claim cross contamination, there isnt really much that can be done..

..other than leaving a review on trip advisor to let everyone know

Some weird posts here...

Standard decaf has about 1/10th the caffeine content of weak tea, not the same or more than tea.

I'm quite sensitive to caffeine, too. I get a jolt as soon as I drink it (from tea, I don't drink coffee). Weird that OP asked twice for decaf & twice told it was decaf. I think it's more likely somebody screwed up making the decaf with the wrong grounds, not a deliberate mistake. I guess I wouldn't want to go back there, either.

The research I'm reading about caffeine & IVF looks tenuous, btw. The studies finding a link with lower conception rates were done on people who had like 5+ cups a day.

Eskimo I'm furious on your behalf, that's awful!
