Big house reviews

I know I may BU but for a wedding I just want a big house where everyone can stay and we can get married with a chilled Reception in the house. Does anyone have any recommendations? We are completely open on location!

Don't go for one big house. there will be arguments, room allocation issues etc. we stay in a place in Cornwall that has cottages that they let out to big groups and families. everyone has their own space and they have a big function room for parties etc. HERE also have a look at the wedding facebook groups - there are loads of them - and see what you find on there. groupaccommodation.com is a good website as well.

We did that. It was lovely.

How big do you need?

Friends rented a whole youth hostel for the weekend. The accommodation was basic but they definitely managed a chilled out atmosphere

Ideally needs to house at least 50 but possible up to around 70 people. We have a huge family who we are very close to (see them twice weekly) and often do big house weekends together so just thinking if we could get it all done in once that would be awesome!

Bigger than the place we stayed then.

I can remember one place in (I think) Devon that might meet the bill? Any good?

What about a country house hotel or similar. There is more likely to be en suites with all the rooms.

I went to a wedding at wroxhall abbey (near Coventry) and it was lovely.

Aynhoe Park do weddings, they also have rooms but not sure how many. Beautiful plac.

That’s a country house hotel but it definitely had the big house vibe.

Missed "open on location".

It's here;

I used to work in a youth hostel in a historic house that offered exactly that. Accommodation was basic (think bunk beds and school showers) but it meant everyone could get pissed as farts and just stagger upstairs to bed.

Achnagairn house through www.perfect-manors.com is really lovely. There are also self catering lodges in the grounds.

We went to a wedding at Chaffeymoor Grange in Somerset a few years ago, it was glorious. Stayed in the house. Lovely relaxed feel to it, ping pong, croquet, billiards room!

Villa Farm in York has a cottage complex you can hire out.

Elmore court, Gloucestershire. It's beautiful but I might be confused about what you're after!
Do you want a self catering holiday house type place and do a DIY wedding? Or do you mean a big house with staff that do weddings?
