To think I should be feeling better by now

Fell ill at the turn of the year, went to gp diagnosed virus of some sort. I know that there are lots of bugs going round at the moment. But three weeks on I'm still feeling really unwell, swollen painful glands, achy all over and so exhausted that if I sit down for five minutes I fall asleep. I am acutely aware of how stretched the NHS is at the moment so I don't want to go back to gp unnecessarily. However, I really think that I ought to be better by now. So aibu to think that nearly three weeks should be enough time to recover from a virus?

Not the one that's doing the rounds where I live - I've had it since just before New Year and I'm only just starting to feel slightly better. This is the case for everyone that I know that's had it. It really sucks - the lack of energy is horrible. Hope that you feel better soon Flowers

I would ask for a telephone consultantation at least. Sounds pretty similar to when I had glandular fever

Are you still working or can you take some time off? I find the best way to recover from a virus is bed rest to let the body concentrate on doing what it needs to do instead of making it limp on.

They can take a long time to completely recover from. Even when you feel fine as long as you are taking things easy you feel wiped out as soon as you try to do anything.

I'm a sahm so only so much I can rest. Husband took a couple of days off and have been in bed all this weekend.
