To ask what on earth this is on my DDs thumb

What could this be? I thought the start of HFAM but she hasn't had any more anywhere. She threw up once last night. It doesn't seem to be irritating her despite it looking sore. It had a blister type head on it which went when she had a bath. Popped some sudocrem on it but wondering if I need to do anything else...Confused

Looks like a bite to me. Watch for and signs of it turning into a bullseye or getting infected. Do you have pets or had you dd been playing in long grass?

Toughtips · 21/01/2018 15:17

We have a dog but he's not bitten her. No, we didn't leave the house yesterday as we've not been well. She threw up last night and we noticed this on her thumb when we have her a bath.

Could be impetigo, bacterial infection which would need either antibiotic cream or oral antibiotics. If that’s what it is it’s highly contagious, needs to be covered and any towels etc she uses need to be washed.

Osirus · 21/01/2018 15:31

Looks like a splinter to me.

Dipitydoda · 21/01/2018 16:40

If your Dd has been having flu like symptoms at all take her to dr first thing in the morning to eliminate the possibility of a tick bite ( I was thinking this was more a potential tick carried on the coat of your dog rather than dog bite) it prob isn’t but just to be on safe side

TeeniefaeTroon · 21/01/2018 16:42

Looks like a splinter that's become infected.

mummymeister · 21/01/2018 16:46

do you have any magnesium sulphite paste that you can put on it as it looks like an infected splinter. if no better tomorrow take her first to the pharmacy and they will be able to help/offer good advice.

NashvilleQueen · 21/01/2018 16:47

Infected splinter was my first thought

lostherenow · 21/01/2018 16:51

Looks like an infected splinter to me too.

WaggyMama · 21/01/2018 16:56

As with a rash, draw around the outline to see if it spreads

Blobby10 · 21/01/2018 17:05

No idea what it is on your daughters thumb but I do like your nail colour Smile

purpleflower23 · 21/01/2018 17:09

Looks like an infected splinter to me too!

Oblomov18 · 21/01/2018 17:19

Me too Blobby Grin

Dipitydoda · 22/01/2018 21:00

Did you find out what it was op?

Toughtips · 24/01/2018 12:24

@Blobby10 and @Oblomov18 - haha- tyvm, my one addiction, gel nails.

Thank you for the comments. We put sudocrem on it and a plaster which seemed to alleviate the soreness. It seems to be getting better but I will keep an eye on it. She's well in herself but it looks like it's got some pus inside which i'm assuming no amount of cream will fix. May pop her into the pharmacy if it doesn't go down anymore. Its not getting any worse it just seems to be taking time to go.
