Abortion Bleeding

Please help! Sorry posting for traffic but I'm starting to worry!

I had a medical abortion 10 days ago at 7w2d. The bleeding was very heavy with huge clots but starter to lighten after a couple of days then day by day as expected. The past couple of days there hasn't been much blood. Just like a regular period at first then the brown end of period stuff.

Today I've started to bleed heavily again, bright red blood with clots. I've just been to the toilet and passed a huge clot!

Should I be worried? I'm not in any pain but do get funny sensations in my abdomen.

I think you should get it checked just in case there's retained tissue causing an infection.

If you are soaking a pad in an hour or less get it checked immediately.

Rumpledfaceskin · 20/01/2018 17:00

Can you phone clinic or gp for advice? I think I would if you sense it’s abnormal.

Clockgoesdong · 20/01/2018 17:01

Yes get it checked out. I had a medical abortion at 6 weeks and the bleeding tapered off and stopped much like a period.

Jeds55 · 20/01/2018 17:06

Definitely get it checked - I had surgery for a mmc and 2.5 weeks later started to bleed heavy clots. Turned put there was retained products and I had to have a second surgery. Better to get it checked than risk an infection

Isn't there any follow up care for this like a number or something?

BurningStar · 20/01/2018 17:19

I've phoned the number they gave me, been on hold for 15 mins now!

Definitely go in and get checked, my friend had exactly the same before Xmas, she was still bleeding heavily a week later and had to have a small op as there was still something inside her. Hope you're ok x

BurningStar · 20/01/2018 18:11

I was on the phone for half an hour before giving up. So much for 24/7 helpline Sad

Call back again, you need to get checked. Once it slows and nearly stops it isn't supposed to restart. Although bleeding past 10 days isn't uncommon. It's the Bright red with clots I'm bothered about Maybe call 101 if you can't get through.

TheIrregularChoice · 20/01/2018 18:21

Please call back. Or try 101.
The bright red bleeding and large clots is concerning.

I would second 111 if you can't get through on the number you were given.

Best to get checked out and sorted asap Flowers

Shineystrawberrylover · 20/01/2018 18:26

Do get it checked. But when I had a not fully succesful d&c following a mmc I had a similar experience as there was retained tissue. Flowers. But i have also had a clot a few days after mc and everything was ok. One thing they will ask about is any smell.

Viviennemary · 20/01/2018 18:33

Does wherever you had this done have an after hours service you can ring for advice on what to do. Or did you get any leaflets from them about what to expect afterwards and when to seek medical care. Try 111 again and if no reply would it be appropriate to go to A&E although they're overstretched as we all know. I don't think you should ignore it and hope for the best.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 20/01/2018 18:37

Go to A&E, if you can't get a response, don't panic, just do something constructive. Let us know how you get on.
Thinking of you Star xx
