I graduated last summer with a first class honours degree from a red brick uni. Have been applying for phds to commence this September. Have unpaid internships coming out of my ears... bit disheartened with my chosen career in the health sector but hoping things may improve by the time I have completed my PhD.

Anyway my DP who completed his PhD in December and managed to get a lecturer job in Manchester uni. Very happy for him.

Now I don't know what to do. My internship finishes end of Jan. I am applying for jobs in Manchester atm and have an interview for a temping research agency. But not much else....

Aibu to move with DP to Manchester without a job??? I have about 4 grand savings and could live comfortably for about 6 months. Me and DP haven't lived together before, i am living with my sister paying small amount of rent due to circumstances. Is moving completely irresponsible?

If your sister is happy to accept your small rent, I would stay until you find a job in Manchester. Don't use up your savings.

Can DP afford rent in Manchester on his own? Will you be expected to pay half even with no job?

Agree, don’t use your savings. Would you move in with him if he wasn’t moving to a distant city?
