Asking for a second date?

More of a wwyd.

Had a first date with a guy I met online on Wednesday. It went really well and we messaged yesterday a bit. I asked him out first so I feel like asking to see him for a second date would make me look too keen? I'm not sure whether he's just shy or not interested.

What do you think?

I would leave it to him, as you asked him out initially.

It's along time since I dated but wednesday is not long gone, why don't you wait a couple of days, keep chatting with him, then maybe ask if he wants to meet up again (he may have asked by then)
I wouldn't worry too much about seeming keen, sounds as if you are keen - nothing wrong with that. I always think it's better not to play 'who should ask who' games - just get on with it.
The worse that happens is he says he's not interested - then at least you know where you stand,

He was very nervous and was in a long term relationship with only 1 date since breaking up last year.

I think I'll leave it up to him but I hate the waiting game!

I agree with KurriKurri if he isn't interested in seeing you again he'll say no and you can move on, if he is he'll be happy you asked. The playing games stuff is silly I think

If you have been doing the asking, I'd tend to wait fir him next, not in a playing games way, just to weed out any potential partners who just never get round to doing anything.

Take it from one who knows....

My dp was the one who set up our first 3 dates and that didn't seem weird or over keen to me, so I'd say go for it. Unless you're waiting for him to ask you to "prove" he's interested. Which is also fair. So I guess it depends what you want more, to set up another date or to test his interest level and initiative,
