Before Christmas me and my partner drove his Nan to the capital of the country so she could stay at her sisters and then be brought home by a family member in January. This is roughly a 3 hour journey by car one way and I'm the only one who can drive. My car costs €45 per tank and it takes just over a tank to get there and a tank back. So far that's €90. The quickest option means we'd have to pay €20 each way for the toll so €130 in total. My partner has just lost his job (this week) and I'm the only one working on minimum wage. If we went the non-toll route this would add a total of 3 hours into the journey so 9 hour drive time in total for me in one day. We have to do this on Saturday and I have to be at work again on Monday. We paid half the journey up before Christmas and the rest was given to us. Between us we have less than €50 until end of month. We have zero cash to go and get her so I said his mum who lives in UK would have to transfer the money and tough, I'm going the toll route. She's transferred £30! I'm livid. He seems to think I should go the non-toll way and save €40 and get the rest of the money when we get there, I've refused and said if we don't have half for the journey and go by the toll I'm not doing it. Apparently family member can no longer bring her
