To think this is a dress emergency!

I need a dress fir a fancy dinner next week! I haven't been to anywhere remotely fancy since .... I don't know it's been a really long time. It needs to be evening or cocktail dress. I don't have a clue what other women will be wearing there.
I've been looking through hundreds of dresses online but can't find it!!!
I'm size 8-10, not at all curvy, would like a v neckline ideally but not too revealing, colour wise would love a lovely red dress, but will consider pretty much any colour. I would prefer a bodycon/pencil skirt style rather than a line.
Any recommendations would be very welcome, I'm getting desperate!

Oh and price wise ideally around £100 and not above £200. Is that even doable?

Can you go shopping and physically try stuff on at the weekend?

Castieldeansam · 18/01/2018 16:27

look online in John Lewis or coast or Phase eight or Hobbs. Probably still a free to be had after Christmas.

There’s an app you can download called Shopstyle which allows you to put in criteria and then searches across a number of different retailer websites. I love it for when I have a vague idea of item / colour scheme in my head. Might help?

coast sale dresses

This HotSquash Emma dress is gorgeous on, and fits your description (though its black not red) A LBD is a safe bet though when you don't know what others will be wearing.

Thanks everyone for replying!
Not easy to go shopping, have a 2yo and also where i am it's a bit limited with shops.
I've been on johnlewis.com, debenhams, house of fraser, phase eight, next, asos and some more.... Confused
I'm probably too picky.
I like the shopstyle suggestion so will check it.
I think I would prefer a midi length or just above the knee, not sure about full length, I'm worried i will be overdressed.

I've got loads of 50s style / wiggle dresses from Amazon that aren't £££ and are very flattering on. Great if you're only going to wear them a couple of times too.

thisisnothappening · 18/01/2018 18:12

I quite like this one (found with the shopstyle appGrin) but a bit too open on top and maybe a bit too young for me as well?
Im 34

I always head to EBay for inspiration and put 'silk dress 10/12' in the search bar and go from there. Always heaps of stuff and 9/10 times it fits fine (message and ask for more specifics if not given).
