Just been reading Cosmo, full of wonder stories about female empowerment, amazing businesses started in a cupboard under the stairs with no
Qualifications etc. Blogging till it comes out of your arse, influencers being all fantastic and making us buy into their crap even though they are just the girl next door. Grrr , makes me feel like shit and also lacking in confidence!

It's mostly a load of bollocks. Wtf would anyone read Cosmo?

It was my DH who taught me to look for their privilege. How many of them have really done any of it themselves? And how many float along on a cushion of support, money, connections? There are always a couple of outliers who do, but most of the bloody cupcake entrepreneur/ antiques importers/business start ups were no genuine risk and a shedload of social and financial cushioning. Not real.

Cosmo is the biggest pile of shit. "Cosmo women" are what men want and think women should be not what they actually are. It's like sex and the city in magazine form; amusing enough until you know better and then you suddenly wake up and realise what a dated load of old woman hating bollocks it is.

I loved Cosmo in the days when Marcelle D'argy-Smith was the editor.
Read it a few years ago and it seemed a completely different magazine.
