On the way from school run, as I'm coming up the road there is a road you can turn off to my right. The road I am on is quiet busy, and people let other drivers in by flushing them or else no one could get in it.

So I flashed a corsa. As he was about to go a bus came along and indicated to turn down the road he was on.

You could see that he was unsure firstly if the driver hadn't just let the indicator on by mistake (which happens) or secondly was the bus going taking a wide turn before turning down the road.

Likewise I think the bus driver was deciding was the corsa going to pull out so he could take a wide turn, or was the corsa waiting for him to go.

As it was the bus took the first move, so pulled out wide onto my side of the road to turn (it's a very sharp corner). Then the corsa pulled pulled out in front of me. All happy.

Except the bloody Audi driver (nothing against Audi's dp has one) who decided to keep blasting her bloody horn behind me! All over this probably took 20 seconds maximum. So I gave her the finger.

Then when she finally caught up behind me, (40mph road, I stuck to 40mph ish, there's speed cameras on it, and she must have been doing 25-30mph) as I was turning right and she left, so are cars were parallel, she wouldn't even look af me, and yes I would have given her the finger again because she pissed me off.

So who was being unreasonable? Me for letting out the Clio or Audi for honking?

I can't believe you're still thinking about this non event.

You let a car out, it took a bit longer than expected due to the bus, driver rudely honked, you rudely stuck your middle finger up.

Everyone gets on with their lives.

This sorta thing (and worse) happens daily around our school. The honker was being unreasonable and i would have probably ‘signaled’ her too. This is mild compared to what i have to put up with on the school run.

StopTheRoundabout · 15/01/2018 10:05

I don't think either of you are covered in glory for that kind of behavior. It was nice of you to let the corsa out but if you and the audi both had right of way and you were holding up traffic, I could see why it annoyed her especially if you were causing a delay. She shouldn't have hooted but you were very rude giving someone the finger.

Littlebitshort · 15/01/2018 10:05

Oh also you should always give way to a bus!

aintnothinbutagstring · 15/01/2018 10:05

Hmm, well tbh, I'll leave a gap if its bumper to bumper sort of busy but if someone is that hesitant I'll just keep going, 20 seconds is quite a long time in driving time, I'd probably give them a few seconds to make a move or I'm off! Why did you want her to look at you?

aintnothinbutagstring · 15/01/2018 10:08

Saying that, I rarely honk or give anyone the finger, I generally just quietly seeth!

araiwa · 15/01/2018 10:15

Flashing your lights and stopping when you have right of way is confusing and dangerous- yabu

RainbowPastel · 15/01/2018 10:23

You caused the whole road to come to a standstill. I'm not surprised she beeped her horn at you.

Littlebitshort · 15/01/2018 10:31

Sounds kind of you to let someone out of a side road especially when you know its very busy and unlikely they will get onto the road if noone ever let them in. Just sounds like 1 hesitant driver and bad timing with a bus. Either carry on kindly letting people out as you have probably been doing for a while or be a selfish git and just drive on.

Nicknacky · 15/01/2018 10:34

Flashing people out when you have right of way drives me bananas. People like to be nice but just stick to who has right of way and everyone knows what to do!

I refuse to move if an eejit stops on a road where they have right of way to let me turn across their path. Just drive!

Seeline · 15/01/2018 10:41

It is different when traffic is joining from your side of the road - leave a gap and let them feed in.
When traffic is joining from the other side it is not your place to stop, hold up traffic until they can cross another stream of traffic to get across the road. If they have managed that first stage and are sitting in the middle of the road blocking traffic flow, then let them in, but not otherwise.
However, the Audi should not have tooted - that should only be done to warn of a hazard.
You were rude to give the finger though.

TheMadGardener · 15/01/2018 10:47

You weren't U to let the Corsa out. But you are U to complain because the Audi driver "wouldn't look at you" afterwards. Why should she? She's supposed to be concentrating on the road! I wouldn't look at you if I thought you were likely to be making more rude gestures at me.

As someone else said, this is a non-event.

Snowysky20009 · 15/01/2018 10:51

I flashed corsa because she couldn't see for the bus and the road was clear behind

But I hold up my hands I was being unreasonable, and I will keep my fingers down in future, and stop flashing!

There goes my morning good deed for the day lol

Don't worry about what anyone else can see. She just has to wait a few minutes.
