I am trying to book a surprise holiday for husband's 40th birthday to Reykjavik, Iceland.
I have narrowed it down to two hotels - both central, both good reviews but I seem to be completely unable to actually make a decision and book one. I am so used to chatting to my H about this and seem incapable of doing it alone!
The 2 hotels are the Alda and the Skuggi - has anyone been to either and have any recommendations? Does anyone have time on their hands to have a quick look and give me an opinion?

Thanks

Have you read reviews for both on TripAdvisor?

The bedrooms look nicer in the first one in my opinion.

The first one looks better (and is higher rated by Tui) so if the prices are similar, I'd go with the first one.

I often look on tripadvisor for the "terrible" reviews, which sometimes tell you things that you might not otherwise find out, eg "room 17 is just above the bar and there's live music till 3am". Sometimes, of course, it just tells you things about the reviewer.

In this case, Skuggi looks fun - they have a manager who bites back! "Thank you for testing my patience with your statement ....I strongly encourage you to consider more constructive feedback methods and avoid reacting in anger and fury"

Stayed at Skuggi o our last trip to Reykjavik. Was a good hotel on a quiet street just a few minutes walk from the centre of town. Ok restaurant and a bar with happy hour. Only negative was the rooms were quite warm when we went in May.
