to not want to buy frozen food from a man smelling of alcohol ?

Nicely dressed man with a van of what looked like good quality frozen meat, fish etc knocked at 11 am and asked to show me what he had on his van. Soon got a lingering whiff of alcohol which I found rather off putting, as well as I tend to be reluctant to buy from door to door anyway. AIBU ?

Not at all unreasonable. I had a man knock on my door recently asking if I wanted my gutters cleaned. Now as it happens I do need them doing, and he was working elsewhere on my road and so i could have got references from neigbours, but I was completely put off by the fact he was smoking on my doorstep, and madeno attempt to put it out when I answered the door with ds at my knee

There was a story in our local paper about some door-to-door fish sellers who have just been jailed for conning old people. The customers agreed to buy a small amount of fish, and the sellers then filled the customers' freezers with dodgy & out of date fish (more than they had agreed to buy) and insisted on being paid for all of it.

Best avoided.
