About A/C war at the gym?

I live in an apartment building with a small private gym.

I’m nearly always on my own when I use the gym in the morning. I turn the lights and A/C on when I arrive. If no one is there, I turn them off when I leave.

From time to time, around the time I leave, one of my neighbours (let’s call her A) is arriving.

Whenever A arrives, she immediately announces that she’s cold and switches off the A/C. By that time I’ve just finished cardio, I’m really hot, and I’m stretching. I want to keep the A/C on for my last 5 minutes before I leave.

AIBU to think that A shouldn’t switch off the A/C when I’m there? She knows I put it on, and she also knows I’m about to leave. Isn’t it rude of her to override me?

Should I build up the courage to say something, or should I rise above it?

There’s no back story with A - she is elderly, doesn’t work, has lived in the building a long time, I don’t know her name and have no other interaction with her.

She also switches the tv on at blaring levels, but I don’t mind about that. It’s just the A/C that bothers me.

Depending where you live, there are legal safe limits for gyms. The building should be maintaining a consyant temperature and controls shouldnt be accessible. I have been through this 😀 to be honest it's not always a battle worth fighting, people are so bloody easy. I drive 40 minutes now rather than walk 3 seconds to my corporate one but it's worth it.

Arrive and leave five minutes earlier ?

FireCracker2 · 12/01/2018 06:40

Surely it was would benefit your stretching for the room to be a bit warmer?

Eliza9917 · 12/01/2018 06:59

What temperature do you set it at?

YANBU. She is being rude! She'll warm up when she starts working out

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders · 12/01/2018 07:02

If she’s cold, she needs to work harder. There is absolutely no reason the gym should be warm.

UrgentScurryfunge · 12/01/2018 07:35

She should arrive with an extra layer on to remove when she's warmed up. That's normal practice anyway.

It's rude to go in and override the previous person without consultation.
