Sterilised a gel teether

I just steam sterilised a brand new gel teething toy, I'm tired and just didn't think, it's intact but slightly warped.
Is it safe to use or too risky?
I feel bad because my mum bought it and I hate the thought of her wasting money because of my mistake...

I don't know what my AIBU is but here for traffic tbh

How did you do it? (steam, Milton solution, boiling?)

QuestionableMouse · 12/01/2018 00:04

Whoops sorry missed you'd already said. I'd say it's unlikely to be harmful... I'm sure you can freeze them too.

Moonbear10 · 12/01/2018 00:15

I went and rummaged through the recycling for the packaging and it said in big letters DO NOT EXPOSE TO EXTREMES OF TEMPERATURE, DO NOT BOIL

I'm such a wally

It'll be perfectly safe to use.

The only reason it says not to boil or expose to extreme temperatures is because heat will warp it, not because it will make it unsafe.

It is a bit warped, I'm just worried that it may have damaged it and it might explode in ds's mouth or something...

If the gel was unsafe I don't think the product would've been licensed for use by babies.

I'm sure it's fine but if it's really bothering you throw it away or you'll just be worrying about it.

Moonbear10 · 12/01/2018 00:56

That's very true... I'll sleep on it and assess the situation properly in the morning, I can always whizz out and get a replacement I suppose. Just hate this feeling of guilt that I've wasted my mum's money, damn you anxiety Blush

My friend put a gel teething toy in her microwave steriliser and it warped it, but it was still perfectly fine to use. Her little one still used it with no problems.
