To be ridiculously annoyed at this delivery company

Ordered table and chairs from a big name company. We were given a 3 hour time slot for delivery so my husband waited in with the kids (skipping our sons swimming lessons) looking out for the driver. At 5.25 when I'm still at work I get a missed call. I don't pick it up until 5.35 when I left. It was the driver stating that the sat nav had taken him to a different address than the one on the delivery note and unless I call him back within 5 minutes he would count it as a missed delivery. He didn't call my work number (which I gave them). He didn't drive round the corner to the address on the delivery note. When I called him back at 5.35 he didn't answer his phone and has ignored all calls since. Customer service number is closed. I'm fuming!!!
As far as we can tell he must have put the post code in his sat nav wrong which took him round the corner.
He didn't have my husbands number as I was the one who sorted the order and at the time we didn't know when it was being delivered or who would be in for it so I just put my numbers down. Not that it would have helped as he only called the first number anyway.
Surely I can demand they come back at a time that suits us??

So it never even made it to your house?!

Nope he just sat round the corner from our house for 5 minutes, outside the incorrect house, despite reading out the correct address on my voicemail

YANBU that's awful has it come now?

afrikat · 12/01/2018 17:52

Nope not here. It got taken back to the depot so I have to wait another week. We've complained in writing, I'm fuming!

Should of give you're husbands number if you cannot take calls at work. I swear they don't actually want to deliver things it's soooo irritating.

It was really unfortunate timing. I can take calls at work but I was walking to the car and didn't hear it. They have his number now so they better manage it next time!

Yanbu. He didn't try very hard.

Some couriers are great but others make up their own rules. When I was pregnant with dd travel system was ordered from boots. Pushchair could be delivered to store but not carrycot so had it all delivered to the house.
Paid for named day delivery and arranged for my parents to be at ours before we left for work.

Checked the tracking details that morning to see if there was an idea of time.
Details said that they had attempted to deliver one parcel the day before but got no answer. Attempted delivery of the other parcel gave a different time and different reason.

Tried to speak to courier company to find out what was happening. They said they did not do named day delivery. Tried saying that the update did not mean the driver had even tried the day before and did not know if the courier would attempt that day or not. (luckily he did)

Boots couldn't see the problem as in the end it came on the right day.
Hmm
