Weird v early pregnancy symptoms?

Reposting this from the conception chat as I decided it would fit better here. Hope this is ok!

Hi all, first time poster here so please be nice Smile

I'm paranoid that I'm pregnant even though there is a very slim chance of it. I would only be 2-3 weeks pregnant if I was, but I've had quite a few symptoms including:

  • boobs feeling bigger
  • the weird pimply bits around your nipples you're meant to get when you're pregnant
  • yeast infection
  • a very brief 'pulling' or 'stretching' sensation in my lower tummy, but that could just be psychosomatic
  • a strange metallic taste in my mouth for a day that's now gone
  • feeling slightly more sentimental and tearing up at things I ordinarily wouldn't
  • mild constipation and mild opposite version, but that could just be my diet

It's too soon to do a test as my period is not meant to be for a few days but I plan to take one ASAP.

In the meantime, did you lot have any other pregnancy symptoms this early on? Are there any more obscure other things to look out for? I've not been sick but I've felt queasy at points - I feel like morning sickness is a big slap in the face and not something you have to wonder about.

It's perfectly possible these are all actually period symptoms and I've just gone OTT on worrying blush but if others felt stuff like this early on then maybe there's more to it...

AIBU to worry I'm pregnant?

These just sound like my PMS symptoms. But I have PCOS and my symptoms are pretty weird. Have you missed a period?

thecolonelbumminganugget · 10/01/2018 22:30

Without putting too fine a point on it, if you've had unprotected sex since your last period then no YANBU.

All the stuff you've listed above is explainable in other ways. That said, the reason I took a test and found out I was pregnant (other than being actively trying to conceive) was the day after I spent a whole day with my mouth tasting like it was full of iron filings, it was proper gross and whilst everything else i was experiencing led me to believe I was about to have a period, it was that that was the alerting factor as I'd never had anything like it before.

babybubblescomingsoon · 10/01/2018 22:30

Ah sorry i just read that your period isn't due for a few days. Wait it out, likely to be PMS. Why do you think pregnancy is unlikely?

twotired · 10/01/2018 22:31

I just got really miserable Blush
With the second one I didn't even realise until later in first trimester. The other half said he thought I had been a bit of a miserable cow and finally understood why Grin (I don't handle pregnancy hormones very well haha).

Best of luck, hope you get the answer you want.

chameleonsocks · 10/01/2018 22:33

thecolonelbumminganugget That's exactly why I'm so concerned! Everything else could be chalked up to PMS but I've never had the weird metal taste in my mouth before. How early did that happen to you?

babybubblescomingsoon We only had unprotected sex twice max and he pulled out, plus it was a few days after I had come off my period so not v close to ovulation.

My earliest symptom was feeling weirdly cold.

Also my cats all started wanting to cuddle up at the same time as well, which was unusual, while my friends cat suddenly took against me.

Then two days after my period was due - I was holding off testing for three days, longest cycle and all that - I woke up feeling horrendously sick.

chameleonsocks · 10/01/2018 22:35

twotired It's so unfair that the first pregnancy hormones are so similar to period hormones. Thank you for the luck though, I don't entirely know what I want at the moment! Confused

The metallic taste was my first pregnancy symptom

JustVent · 10/01/2018 22:36

YANBVU.

chameleonsocks · 10/01/2018 22:39

mirime What a lovely sign! Funnily enough, it was around Christmas eve/day that we had the unprotected sex and we visited DP's mum on the 30th who has a cat that I've met before who was incredibly friendly and cuddly. Apparently he'd never been like that with anyone else before. Confused

KenAdams Oh dear... this is making me more worried! hopefully I just had too much First Defence and that's what caused it!

It was on the day my period was due, I tested the following day. I had tested 5 days earlier on an early response test and got nothing, it wouldn't have occurred to me to test again had it not been for the metal taste. I have missed periods before for no reason so I probably would have chalked it up to that for a few weeks before I got suspicious.

That said, i do get a slight metallic taste when I'm about to get a cold, so again that is explainable (it was just in this instance it was really strong and not like anything I've had before).

Good luck, hope you get the answer you want

peachgreen · 10/01/2018 22:46

First Defence will definitely cause a metallic taste! Bear in mind that the vast majority of women don't experience pregnancy symptoms that are differentiated from PMS until after they miss their period so although you are just as likely as anyone else who has had unprotected sex to be pregnant, these symptoms are unlikely to mean anything. Nothing to do but wait until you can test, I'm afraid.

chameleonsocks · 10/01/2018 23:07

thecolonelbumminganugget So strange about the metal taste. Thank you for the luck!

peachgreen That's good and bad news about the First Defence Grin Guess we'll see in a few days...

@chameleonsocks lol, slightly worrying actually. We had three at the time, the two boys were very friendly with each other, the female barely tolerated them. So having the three of them pile on was a bit "oh god, who's going to kick off first"! They didn't though, what ever the sudden attraction was caused by it was enough to keep them acting civil with each other.

My friends lovely tom cat though, he was usually friendly with me because I feed him when she was on holiday, suddenly he was almost ushering me out of the house and wanted me nowhere near him. It was very odd.

Pregnancy can be very weird.
