To think this planet is completely fucked?

And not know what to do about it?

Half the planet is on fire or scorching hot (45 degrees in Sydney), most of the USA and Canada are in the grip of a super storm, the seas are being deoxiginated, coral reefs and fish sticks being absolutely decimated, the soil is being more and more intensively farmed without being left for fallow periods.

I find it really scary. I’m not a scientist and I do t understand most of these things but I just don’t know how it’s sustainable. I really, really worry for my dc’s about what kind of life they’ll have. It’s like this planet is dying and we’re all just pretending it’s not happening. Or using cardboard straws and buying a Prius in order to feel that you’ve done what you can.

Has anyone got any good news that this isn’t the case? Or should I just start digging an underground fortress to live in and start stockpiling cans of food?

You won't be able to stockpile enough food for the rest of your life, you;ll have to come out sometime.

Be a role model for people you can influence, and appreciate things while you can.

I know I can’t really stockpile much food r water. Even if I did I would imagine baddies would come and get it. It’s funny, it almost feels like I can’t talk about this stuff in real life because it sounds like conspiracy theory crazy talk. But I find it genuinely terrifying and completely helpless about it al.

I agree I used to worry about it a lot but since I’ve had kids I feel like the problem is too scary and anything I could reasonably do about it so inadequate that I’m best off ignoring reality...

Have you seen the “Inconvenient Truth” movies about how fucked the planet is? Such an eye opener to how humans are destroying everything around them.
Apparently something like 50% of all animals will be extinct by 2050. And the world’s population will almost double by next century. We can barely manage to feed the population as it is. Plus with global warming there will be more droughts etc which will create famines, and more natural disasters which will destroy a lot
