Bathroom sinks - AIBU to ask

GinUser · 08/01/2018 11:33

if you have a double sink in your bathroom, how many times are there actually 2 of you each standing at the sinks at the same time?
Would a double sink be a high priority for you?

I’ve thought about this.

The only difference would be I could clearly prove that DH is a messy git with the toothpaste.

reasonably frequently, particular if we are going out for the evening or both trying to leave the house for work at th same time.

GammaDelta · 08/01/2018 11:42

Hi i don't n i don't see the point of having two unless u have loads of space in your bathroom.

TeenTimesTwo · 08/01/2018 11:43

I recently suggested double sinks to DB as he is way taller than his other half, so they could each have one at their own preferred height.

ThePants999 · 08/01/2018 13:47

While we don't have a double sink, I can't imagine ever making use of one.

confusedlittleone · 08/01/2018 16:27

A lot- however we both leave the house at the same time for work

Urubu · 08/01/2018 16:32

It matters a lot to us!
We are there at the same time every morning and sometimes evening. But mostly it allows us to have our half each where we can have our own toiletries organized as we want (and none of DH's hairs in my basin either haha)

LakieLady · 08/01/2018 16:40

I'd like one, if only so that I don't have to rinse away DP's stubble and toothpaste spittle before I can wash my face.

I'd only bother if I had a massive bathroom though. I'd prioritise a dedicated shower cubicle and a bidet over twin basins.

Actually, I'd like us each to have our own bathrooms. Mine would be haven of sparkling tranquillity, his would be a squalid shithole.

MsVestibule · 08/01/2018 16:52

If we ever get enough money together, I want to convert a decent sized single bedroom into our ensuite. There would definitely be enough room for a double sink.

However, I would feel a bit mean cleaning my own sink but not DHs. But on the other hand, the selfish part of me thinks he's cleaned the sink about twice in 11 years, so it's about time he started.

Mrsdraper1 · 08/01/2018 16:54

Lakie I too would love a sparkling haven of tranquility. Constantly fighting against the bathroom's tendency to turn into a squalid shithole.
The toothpaste thing is gleurgh!

BothersomeCrow · 08/01/2018 17:45

My parents had one. They had one bathroom and my dad spends an hour shaving each morning.
DH shaves in the shower in about 10 minutes. No need for extra basin.

Margomyhero · 08/01/2018 17:47

I wouldn't use it. Bathroom time is private time here .

We have s double in our small 2mx2m bathroom. It's lovely as it has big drawers under it for all my 'stuff'.
And it's essential as the cat insists on drinking from the tap whilst we are doing our teeth so we end up being squashed by one basin anyway. Imagine if all 3 of us had to share? Hmm
