Had Christmas holidays off as I'm a teacher. Felt I'll on and off all holiday but kids and partner all been ill too. Couldn't get an appointment to see GP. Woken up now with pain in ear and really sore throat and glands up. I just want to sleep it off. I'm hot then cold. AIBU to consider having day off? Also I'm part-time so feel extra guilty.

Sorry to hear your not feeling well.
If I was you I’d dose up on paracetamol and plough though with your symptoms... not sure it warrants a GP visit never mind a sick day.
Hope your feeling better soon

Sounds like you’re ill, not going to get better quickly, and also run down. How would you feel if you decided right now that you were going to be off sick for the week? Probably so much better instantly. You are allowed to be ill and off.

Also it sounds like the beginning of something. What if whatever you have is contagious. You'll be passing it on to kids and staff. In those circumstances I'm sure your school would be very glad if you stayed home.

Thanks for your advice. I do feel very run down. Going to try and get back to sleep and see how I feel.

Wrt advice about warranting a GP visit - I do have problems with my ears so it wouldn't be terribly unreasonable to get them checked but I guess I'm drip-feeding!
